GOD’S WILL REGARDING YOUR HEALTH AS A FAMILY (2)
I welcome you to another edition of our teaching on God's Will Regarding Your Health as a Family. Last week, I showed you your redemptive right as a child of God, regarding your health.
Today, by the power of the Holy Spirit, we shall be looking at Healing, Health and Wholeness, Are They Real?
Today, I shall discuss on Healing: The Chambers Dictionary defines it to be "The act or process by which anything is healed or cured." The Oxford Dictionary defines it as: "To become or make something healthy again." It means therefore, it takes being sick to need healing. Jesus said in Luke 5:31: They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick. So, healing is basically for the sick.
Healing is in God's redemptive agenda for man. Healing and forgiveness go hand in hand. At redemption, when your sins are forgiven, you become a child of God entitled and having a right to healing. This explains why God's Word says in Psalm 103:3: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases. So, they go hand in hand. In Matthew 15:26 Jesus in a conversation with "a woman of Canaan" who desired healing for her daughter answered and said: It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs. So, healing is the children's bread and God intends that His children must first be filled with healing before any other person has access to it for He declared in His Word: Thou salt be blessed above all people (Deuteronomy 7:14).
The price for healing was also clearly paid for by Jesus, as part of the redemptive package for mankind. In Isaiah 53: 4-5, it is clearly stated: Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
He took the strips that our bodies may no longer be broken by sicknesses and diseases. Peter reiterated this in 1 Peter 2:24: who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
So, by death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God made provisions for him to be restored to wholeness.
Just as God made provisions for man to be reconciled back to Him by the redemption of our souls from the clutches of sin, so also did He make provisions for us to experience His healing power when faced with any form of infirmity, sickness or disease. If you look at the above scripture, you find that Jesus was wounded for our iniquities. Secondly, the Word here says, He was bruised for our transgressions.
Transgression has to do, basically, in simple terms with the spirit. It goes on to say that "the chastisement of our peace was laid upon Him". You must have heard people say, "peace of mind"; so, peace has to do with the state of our minds and then it goes on to say, "by whose stripes we are healed".
That talks about healing in our physical body. So, Jesus came, hung on the cross, despising the shame, taking care of us in the realms of the spirit, souls or mind and at the same time in the realm of our bodies.
God's Word simply makes us to understand that it is neither the plan of God nor His will to see any of us in sickness because the price has been paid. Who paid the price? Jesus did and that same Jesus said, "It is finished". He completed the payment of the debt. There is no debt on your life anymore. All that needs to be paid has been paid on your behalf. You and I are now meant to be free spiritually, free in our body and free in the realms of our minds.
Hallelujah, what a joy Jesus has paid the price for our healing. But before you and I can enjoy that healing, we need to confess our sins and accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour. If you are ready for this new birth experience, please say this prayer of faith with me: Dear Lord Jesus, I come to You today, I am a sinner. Forgive me of my sins. I believe You died and rose on the third day for my sins. I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Make me a child of God today.
